Description

Sweet Olive Cemetery is the name of this place. You can google this place. This photo was taken across the road that goes thought the cemetery. No; the road is not the normal road running thought a cemetery. It a city road. Very strange indeed. Any way the land do have rolling hills here so it is slanded a little but check out the trees they at right for level going. Anyway 90 % of the cemetery looks like this. Just about 7 to 8 graves deep from the main road that runs in front of the cemetery is keep up for show. And a little bit where I took the first photo. I post some photos of that too and also of a tree surround a tomb head. You see the far tree line way back there. That where the cemetery ends on this halve of the cemetery. I about halve way in. You also see where some one use weed killer stuff to kill weeds around about 12 graves out here. i did not take many photos today for the sky was cast over somewhat and I did not like the idea of walking on top the graves. Because i think it a dishonor and also Some of the graves is not safe. even the corners is not safe and I post a image of that too with a casket showing. That be tommor i could not take many photos for the weeds was too much

Hold the phone...hold the phone! Do you mean to say these are caskets that were never buried six feet under? Blasphemy! And how about someone mowing or cutting down those weeds or tall grass! Cool photo otherwise, Jock.

You said that there are snakes in all that grass. I think that I would be up on top of the caskets. Dana

It's really sad that these cemeteries are allowed to decay like this. As I said, you should send these pics to your local tv stations .. maybe they'll do a story on them and get some clean up projects going!

This is amazing! You are doing some really great documentary work. This is something incredibly sad, but also incredibly interesting. I would love to see this place for myself and document a bit of its condition as well. The idea that a road runs through it is quite strange, especially considering the possible age of this place. I'm going to Google it and see if there is more I can learn about it.

This cemetary would make a fine community service project for the Boy and Girl Scouts (older kids) to clean up!

There us a strange and wonderful mood to an overgrown graveyard, hard to put into words. These are fantastic pictures.
