Description
Sweet Olive Cemetery is the name of this place. You can google this place.
This photo was taken across the road that goes thought the cemetery. No; the road is not the normal road running thought a cemetery. It a city road. Very strange indeed.
Any way the land do have rolling hills here so it is slanded a little but check out the trees they at right for level going.
Anyway 90 % of the cemetery looks like this. Just about 7 to 8 graves deep from the main road that runs in front of the cemetery is keep up for show. And a little bit where I took the first photo. I post some photos of that too and also of a tree surround a tomb head.
You see the far tree line way back there. That where the cemetery ends on this halve of the cemetery. I about halve way in. You also see where some one use weed killer stuff to kill weeds around about 12 graves out here. i did not take many photos today for the sky was cast over somewhat and I did not like the idea of walking on top the graves. Because i think it a dishonor and also Some of the graves is not safe. even the corners is not safe and I post a image of that too with a casket showing. That be tommor
i could not take many photos for the weeds was too much

What a Calamity !
Great photo Jock, but sad to know that only a few people like yourself seem to care about the condition it's in.
Another good reason for cremation...
Almost spooky.
I should prefer to think that my grave was surrounded by plantlife than mowed and sterile, myself!
Agree with Dave!!! Excellent capture, Jock!!!
Great capture!!

Silent and paeceful place!

Fantastic capture... Shame that they let these graves go like this with out any care...
a very sad situation!! great shot!
Excellent capture Jock :)
Great photo, Jock. But thit is very sad to see that they have so little respect for it.
Sequencia impressionante meu amigo, texto esplendido, grande captura, aplausos (5)
It's next to unbelievable that this could be allowed to happen. The relatives if there are any left must be furious. You do great real life photography Jocko (photo journalism really), heck send this to some of the big news papers so that people outside of the Rendo community can see for themselves how the poor are really treated. George
Sad, and you would think the City could take responsibility, as they once were their Citizens!
Very, very sad.
really a statement of state of affairs. this is a great human interest scene. lovely job and tribute to those the city has let go unnoticed
That's seriously scary, there . . . !
great photo!
A sad thing indeed. Great shot Jocko.
This is such a fascinating place. Excellent shot!
Fascinating capture!
Unloved, untended, but not forgotten!
something I found online. it is a shame of the condition, but the dead does not know. far worse is people going to bed(if they are lucky to have one)hungry and malnourished right here in the good ole USA Sweet Olive Cemetery is an African American historical cemetery in Baton Rouge that has struggled for years with its conditions and has a hidden history. There are recent photographs of Sweet Olive Cemetery in Baton Rouge that can be seen on Facebook from John Gallent. The link to the photo album is below. This 2006 photograph (link) is of volunteers from the LSU Honors College Freshman initiating one of two volunteer clean-ups at Sweet Olive Cemetery. You can read about the 2006 clean up effort here. I've tried several times to contact the LSU Honors College for more information concerning this cemetery, but have had no luck.
more and more interesting, thanks for sharing
