i think its an alien...;) superb shot
It is a female scorpionfly. Wonderful picture!
Yes, Ursula has told you! I didn't know either when I caught one in June. Fab insect and great shot!

Not sure either Helle, but it is a fantastic macro of him
Very interesting haven't seen one before, beautiful color and detail excellent capture!
A fabulous close up of this most interesting scene! Seems like he's definitely marked his territory :) What gorgeous colours and so very vibrant and clear! Excellent capture, Dear Helle!
Wonderful sharpness and detail. Well done.
I haven't seen one of these but i have read about them. cool shot - excellent macro.
What a critter! Wonderful girl and a superb capture Helle!
Excellent macro of this scorpionfly! My book only shows the male, it has a more scorpion looking end to the tail. I wasn't sure that was it till I read Ursula's comment.
Most prehistoric looking!
Beautiful light and detail on this unusual looking insect.
It's Darth Vader trying out a new look! Well...okay, it looks like a scorpion fly of some sort! You can always tell by that nose, which really isn't a nose, but it looks like one...or as some people might call it, a "schnoz." What colors and details. I love the patterns and the really nice sense of color. This is quite a fantastic shot; I especially like the contrast of the fly (with those nice wings) and the leaf. Really cool!
Excellent capture - fascinating
wow, crips and clear macro again, Helle, so well done!
