Description
Tokyo is a wealthy city but not everyone is rich. Among the mass of humanity busily moving through their daily tasks one will occasionally come across one of the city’s unfortunates. When you have been beaten down by life perhaps sleep is the only escape.

What can you say? There are as many reasons why they are in this condition as there are people in that condition. There is no simple explanation nor solution Great capture and social commentary
I find it good to make also such pictures public! The negative sides of lives. JulySun
A universal condition, but each individual in his/her own predicament. One of our local rough sleepers was kicked to death for not handing over his tobacco.
Poor fellow!! My heart breaks for him and all others in similar circumstances! i am very worried about his open zipper though!
beautiful!!
Very sad site, and unfortunate that some people must resort to this... Mike said it well, that there is "no simple explanation nor solution". Many of us nevertheless, end up treating the symptom rather than the source of the problem... this is a difficult challenge to overcome. A really good issue to bring to the forefront...
we see a lot of people like this here also .. excellent capture
bonne photo!!
Sad to see..
miss out on life with too much sleeping when down and out just ignore and talk about with no solution at hand time to stop staring and do something about but who wants to take care of the unwanted who want touchy subject for me wonderful capture warm hugs, Linda
Well, at least he takes his shoes off before putting his feet up on the bench. :-) Great shot.
fantastic image, but a very sad subject!
"There but for fortune, go you or I." He looks very weary. Excellent image.
Great capture ! Excellent image!
having a universal solution means deprivation of choices... we make our own choice about where to go. on the other hand, there are conditions you can hardly evade, especially if you have nothing to compare them with..
I must agree with all the others. I'm afraid it is a condition that has always been and probably will always be and that is the most sad fact. For all our supposed advances what a shame that we can't find a way to end this kind of existence. Why should anyone life in the street? Superb image.
