Description

As you know dogs are part of my life and I love them dearly and don't remember much of my life without them in it. It is 4 years this month since my little boy dog Rags died. He is the great grand-father of Carina you see in the picture laying down on your right, and in fact she looks very much like Rags. These are 3 of my pets who knew Rags, and in fact Mistapus had been in my life only 3 days when Rags died, and he played an enormous part in distracting me from the sadness in my heart. The girls Madelena and Carina were just 2 years old when Rags became ill aged 13 years, he had gone deaf and eventually died due to kidney failure. Each night Rags laid beside me in his bed at night, and the girls snuggled down the other side, as time grew closer to his passing to Rainbow Bridge. Rags had gone deaf and as soon as the girls saw me rising in the mornings, they both would enthusiastically go to Rags' bed, but instead of their usual boisterous greeting, both would gently put a paw on him and kiss his nose. Then he would follow them out to the garden for their morning ablusions, every move they made showed how much those girls loved the old chap. After Rags had died the girls were allowed to see him, so that they knew why he would not be back to see them. I was amazed what Carina did, and will never forget it. She knew that Rags loved his nylabones to chew, he always had one every day by his side, and his other love was a beaten up old teddy. She sniffed Rags' eyes and knew he was gone, and then ran off somewhere coming back with his nylabone and laid it beside him. Then quietly she walked off and into the other room, and did not look back, isn't that amazing? I could tell you so many stories of Rags and what he did during his lifetime, but know that your time is precious, so another day I will create a picture which features him. I hope you don't mind me being a bit indulgent with the one I present to you today as a tribute to a very dear friend. I send you all good wishes, and thank you for taking the time to visit me today, and hope that you enjoy your stay. Thanks for all your support of my previous posts, and for all the many wonderful comments and faves, and thank you to those who think me worthy enough to be put on their fave artists list. Love and hugs Jane xx Finepix S5000 photos of the girls and Mistapus and 4 red roses for each year since Rags said goodbye. Background by me. A truly touching little story, I know he's waiting for you and your other "kids" on the other side. Brought a little tear to my eye as you related how Carina got one of his favorite things. Some will say that "mere animals" have no souls... I beg to differ.

Sis, you must be reading my mind tonight as I hoped to hear from you or see one of your lovely creations to give me a lift. This one did the trick as it is such a beautiful image and the story literally has me in tears. Rags must have held a special place in your heart and in the hearts of all your other babies. Reading what little Carina did was almost too much as I had to break away for a moment before finsihing this. This is such a great memorial for Rags, and a tribute to your loving heart Sis. It's funny because this got me to thinking of another Rags who passed away long ago and was a very important part of my childhood. Bless you

Wow, I love the story, although I couldn't decide between crying and laughing, so I kind of did both. Thanks for sharing that with us!

Oh, your story of Rags made me cry! Animals are amazing, most people really don't give them the credit they deserve. They are just like people, it's just that they can't talk, but that doesn't mean they can't feel emotion. Lovely picture and story for a sad anniversary.

Wow Jane what a wonderful image and tribute to your dear departed Rags, and was so lovely to read how the other two treated him towards the end and their reactions once he passed on.. They sound like a fantastic couple to have.. Its always hard when anniversary's come round and having to remember all over again.. I am sure he would love what you have done here for him.. Bless you.. Hugs Barry

this is such a lovely dedi for your much loved Rags...i know how difficult it is to lose a dog and i had a similar situation when my Sebastian died. Charlotte my other dog was allowed to see him so she would know that he had died...she did understand and was really miffed to say the least that her bud left her...she shat right next to his head...no toys for Sebastian, lol...hope all is well with you my dear...anyway, i adore what you've done in this scene--it is really wonderful ;)

OH Jane, that was such a touching story about Rags. And the image is so lovely and well created. Depth and all it beautiful. We had a big cat, when we got a 1½ year old cocker Spaniel. Mikkel, (a divorse dog) years bach. Mikkel was very fearful and the cat was staring at him for 3 weeks, as he hated dogs, before he realized, that the dog was harmless. aAll three weeka Mikkel was complaining over his staring. The dog had deep respect for the cat. Even afraid of him. One day Mikkel got a dog cookie, he went to other rom to eat it, but came back and placed the cookie in front of the cat and pushed it furter near to the cat, to try to make friends with him. The cat stared at the cookie and turned around and left, but one morning few days after on December the 25th, we couldnt understad why the dog didnt come to say goodmorning as usual. We found him lying on the couch with the cat resting his head on him. Mikkel didnt dare to move, but he signaled a little with his tail, to say good morning. He looked kind of thrilled but didnt dare to move. :-) Yes, we were very touched.

Amazing about the bone, Jane! I always show my other dogs the body too, and the one time I didn't, because we decided suddenly to do the deed at the vets, Hetty was distressed for about 4 days, searching. A wonderful piece of work, marvellous!
