Description
Around these parts we call maple seeds helicopters because of how they spin when they fall from the trees.
This one caught my eye because of the color of the stems and seeds. I love ornamental acers!
What attracted me was color and form, hence the postwork.
For Rob and those others of you who were hoping to see something aviation related ... teeheehee! ... sorry ! :P

We have a tree like this in our front yard and this year the "helicopters" were especially a vivid red. A beautiful picture.
beautiful capture
Back in New England as a boy we would gather helicopters by the hand full, then climb the tree to launch!! ;~) Sensational color!!!
I love wathcing these spin down from on high. Great shot and postwork
So do we, Tara :-) What a marvellous shot this is. The colors are just gorgeous.
Oh I love these! I can watch for hours when they start falling and do their helicopter tricks!!! Great image Dierbaar and lovely dreamy postwork!
I've always seen the dried up results of these seed pods on the ground. This is so neat to see them pre-launch...fastened together and getting ready to do their thing. Excellent postwork bringing out the true colors:)
I knew what I expected and I got it! Great coloured stems!
bonne photo!!
Beautiful shot!!
Super shot of these "helicopters" nice colour too..
Okay, count me among those who thought they were at the air show...! Our ones tend to be only green, Clive
Lovely shot. nice combination of red and green that says summer and not Christmas. :-)
oh yes I love to see the spiraling to the earth...smile...but you got some very special ones with amazing colors!
very nice!
My ever hyperactive juke box brain just started playing Soul Coughing's "Unmarked Helicopters". I'm so suggestible. Everybody must call these things helicopters as everywhere I've ever lived that's what they're refered to as. It's interesting to see them in their larval state. Great shot!
Helicopters. A universal name! We call them that here, but in Chicago we don't get the extravagant red ones as much. They're nice anyway, just not as red. This is a gorgeous shot...visually poetic in all of the right ways and it's just downright pretty! I love the papery sound they make when they've fallen and a gentle breeze stirs them...the sound is almost water-like, which reminds me of "tea from an empty cup" which is one of those incredibly Japanese things I enjoy...this shot rocks!
Very cool, Tara! I've never seen red ones, but we used to play with those things for hours back in the day! Really cheap toys!! LOL!
Stems and seeds again, eh? At least these are legal LOL.
I love the roundness of the seeds in these; you got a great capture of their beauty!
Yep! You fooled me.. lol But a beautiful shot, none the less.. Lovely colours.. Our are green or just plain brown around me.. Good one... Rob
very sweet beauty
Very nice...Love the red color
