Description
I've been in Portland, Oregon all weekend for a blues festival. There was so much music and so many bands to see it was impossible to do it all. But the first night---WOW!!! John Mayall and his band simply rocked the place!! I've seen him now 3 times and this was the BEST ever. He and the bass player (the other larger foto) did a trade off---Mayall would do some crazy riff of nonsense words and notes, and the bass player would come back with the same thing on his guitar--absolutely AWESOME--over used as that word can be!! I also saw Taj Mahal, Booker T (no MG's, lol) but they were on a stage so far away I couldn't get any decent shots. This will probably be one of my only concert shots. Got lots of other fun stuff, though--stay tuned!!!

Looks like an awesome time, great shot...I always wish sound came with these lol
I saw Johnny Mayall in Bath, I think in the 60's!

belles photos!!
It must be fun to just sit and hear these guys play.... Nice shot. Aloha
Looks and sounds like you certainly have been having a wonderful time.. nice collage..
Wonderful captures! I bet that was a great night!
Oh well thanks for posting these. They are great.
this is wonderful music
Gail and I last saw John Mayall four years ago and we were knocked out by the 73 year olds antics on stage. The Bluesbreakers provided rock solid support and John just kept the songs coming and was reluctant to stop at the end of the show. A true showman.
Super cool captures and narrative vis-a-vis your Blues icons, Marilyn. Although I'm not an adherent to this form of music, I'm glad you are having a rip roaring time at the festival.
It sure sounds like a concert made in heaven... I would love to hear them all once more... Live and on stage...Wow
This rocks! I love it when musicians just get all crazy-mad and just let everything out...at moments like that, the air seems to turn into jelly, only not thick and cloying, just...well...jazzed or something! That's such a great feeling, especially when the audience is into it and the whole thing is just one big vibe fest! Yeah, I like this!
Wonderful shots and collage. Sounds like it was a great evening. Sounds like the old days at the Newport Jazz Festival. Dana
Wish I had been there...got John's music on my computer and Ipod. We think we ran into him in Seattle on the street in March...but still not sure. Good candid shots in this lively collage.
