Cool black and white contrast and effects in this one. I had a suspicion from the start of this series that Battery Kinsie was haunted. Not unusual for an old and quasi decrepit compound this large.

Very subtle. A first look might cause one to think it was just an ordinary, slightly out of focus, stairway. On second look I thought of a scene from an Alfred Hitchcock movie. The black and white, the soft focus, I can hear two sets of footsteps when I look at this. Someone is being chased. Someone is running scared.

Oooh, this really pops and sizzle and oozes with visual excitement. I love the composition, the stark black and white, and all of the details that fade from bold in the foreground to dream-like and shifty in the background. I love the poetic quote as well, it's a delicious compliment to an already marvelous and deliciously moody photo.
