Description
On the way back to the car after a walk in the forest I sat down to get a view up the trunk of this dead tree. This is what I saw, a rainbow around the sun. It was partial, given the clouds in the sky as well. There must have been a lot of ice crystals up there in the sky, as there was no rain anywhere to be seen. I so wished to have my 24mm lens with me to get a wider view!
This was the best I could do,
Clive

Well you got enough to make it very interesting...I am not sure I've ever seen this phenomena. Good use of the tree for framing!
Stunning capture Clive.
Ha - no worries - we got the rain and ice up north!!! Very special effect and a great picture Clive! Bravo! :)

Here in the US we call that phenom "Sun Dogs", I marvel every time I get to see one and consider myself extremely lucky to see a pair. Thanks for sharing yours. : )
very cool shot!
I wonder if it has anything to do with the ash in the atmosphere from the Iceland volcano? Great capture!
