Description
This is a mature male Blue Corporal. The blue on his body only appears after maturity. Until then, his body is colored like a female.
This species of Dragonfly prefers to perch on the ground or other flat surfaces. Right now, they are the most abundant species on my property but that will change soon. Soon I will start seeing a lot of Blue dashers, Slaty Skimmers, Easter Amber-wings and Eastern Pondhawks just to mention a few.
Tomorrow I will post an image of another new species I had not seen before this year.

I think the light is a bit to strong - you should try a higher aperture. But I know - come close enough to get a good job is hard enough without manual trim of the settings.
