Here is another view of yesterdays image. We have had a lot of heavy pollen recently and that explains all the little white dots on the Dragonfly in this shot.
As is often the case with Dragonflies, the common name refers to some aspect of breeding males. Mature male and female Dragonflies are generally different colors and often even have different wing patterns. That makes species IDs tricky. To make it even trickier, immature males often the same body colors as females.
In the case of Blue Corporals, the mature males have blue abdomens and hence the "blue" in the common name.
I will post an image of a mature male tomorrow.

Never knew there were so many kinds of Dragonflies. I actually saw my first one yesterday, after the nasty winter we had here in Florida.
