Description

I took this photo a couple years ago, during a little photo outing with my dad – the man that introduced me to photography so many, many years ago. Those years have passed so quickly….. I hope we get the chance to do another outing. He is a very sick man tonight. Last night, we had to take him to the hospital by ambulance. He was extremely weak and incoherent. The ER doctor said that – from the X-rays – he had the beginning of pneumonia. At 91, and fighting lung cancer, not a good thing. I saw him tonight, and he’s doing better, but doesn’t have much of an appetite and is still pretty weak. I’m sure he’s going to be there for a while. I may be away from Rendo most of the time for a while, so if I missed commenting, I’ll catch up when I can. I’ll drop by when I can, and hope to be back on a regular basis soon. Thank you all for your comments, ratings, faves and support. I appreciate it deeply.

Be happy you can be with him at this time.. My dad passed away a year ago, and a month before that I flew out and spent a weekend with him and got to be there for his birthday, and those memories are some of my best and dearest memories of him I could ever imagine.. Sadly I knew in my heart when I left him that it would be the last time I saw him. My thoughts will be with you at this time, and I wish you and your family the best during this very difficult time. It is so hard to type this without tears coming... Great to see him here in the photo enjoying his love of photography.

My thoughts are with you guys, I hope you dad makes a speedy recovery and you get many more photo outings with him.

What a fantastic and touching photograph! The information you provided gives quite a lot of insight into the man behind the camera. Hopefully things improve and both you and your dad are in my thoughts.

Rod...you have my whole support my friend. My dad did the exact same thing for me. He actively engaged in photography from age 15 in 1923 until he was 99 the year he passed away in 2007. Yes, I hope you both get another opportunity to click the shutters together again:)

He looks like a great man...one who believes in the future. After all, he invested a lot of time in you, teaching you and guiding you through the years. Great shot and I wish your father well.

Hi Rod, now I know why my work moved you. I hope things work out for you and the old guy. Take care and remember you have to look after yourself or you will not be of much use to anyone.

So nice that you have nice pictures like this of your dad. I wish I did. I have few pictures of him at all. He has been gone for quite a while now. He was only 57 when he died. I too hope your dad has a fully recovery from both illnesses and you both have many more such times together. You are in our thoughts my friend.

That's a great photo, it says so much about him. You can always spot the dedicated photographer: they're the ones perched in the most bizarre places just to get that desired angle. I hope he's doing better, and that you're able to have the fun you desire this weekend!

It was my dad who introduced me to photography as well. He gave me my first Brownie camera, as well as my first SLR--the old Pentax K1000. This foto brings back a lot of memories, and I'm sure it's done the same for you. I hope he's better now.
