Description

This 8-inch Japanese Coastal Gun is located on the northern shore of Peale Island, Wake. It has been reported in the past, apparently erroneously, that this gun was British and had been brought by the Japanese from Singapore after it was taken by the Japanese. Apparently this was incorrect. The reality is that the gun came from obsolete Japanese naval vessels, which had been purchased from the U.K. and Italy in the years before WWI. SO interesting shot Sig! Great POV! I knew that the Japanese shifted around guns from one place to another but not as far as wake from Singapore.. For this size gun, it would have been too far and too bigger risk.. Record's disappear.. Myths appear etc.. But.. A wonderful shot! Rob
