Description
These doors in Chicago were in the process of being restored to their former glory. Notice the scaffolding in the reflection.
The person reflected in the middle of the image is me, of course, taking the picture. The person on the left is Corey, undoubtedly taking an amazing shot with a point of view to die for. Edit note: that IS Marilyn on the right! :)
This was practically right next door to where we had coffee that September Saturday afternoon in Chicago. I'm sure Chip or Corey will know what building this is. Given the emblems on the bottom of the doors, I'm thinking a theater, maybe an opera house, something like that.
I'd love to see it when it's done!

Verdigris and wood, what a wonderful combination. It looks like a harp at the bottom of the door which would suggest a music house. Nice capture.
Do wish I had made that trip. But everything seems to happen for a reason:) Your door series from Chicago has become locally famous. Next you need to add doors from Seattle and a few other cities...always another challenge around the corner isn't there...but then that's what keeps a photo gallery alive and well. Great job tk.

So beautiful, they used to really know how to make an entrance! It could be a hotel, too, often those are quite luxurious... Excellent capture!

I'm glad you caught this while it still shows the marks of age. I'm sure this will look fine all polished, but I do like the patina on the bronze.

These bear a very striking resemblance to the main entrance to Union Station in Toronto - though at Union Station, the entrance is much wider and there were a least twice as many doors. This was prior to modernization as automatic doors had to be added about 20 years ago. However, some of the old antique doors are still in place on the sides. I love how the patina-like green blends with the colour of the old wood. Very nice.
From about the 20s..or perhaps bit earlier. So much to see with a zoom. yes..you must go back to check on the progress. love the shot, full of interest.
