well tara, you're a dear one too. And your gift is just perfect for my birthday. When I first saw it (well, when I first saw it I had a hangover and was seeing flamingos & flying elephants, lol, but this broke through regardless!)---when I first saw it, I wondered if it was from chicago. Then I looked closely and saw that it wasn't. Then I thought: Seattle? Somewhere in Washington? (Well Denise knows it, so it must be near you. The "Salmon Waves"? I'll have to look those up.) Then I realized, what you did with it made it universal, it's this big collection of massive curly-cues, big swirls with wonderful almost painted shadows (I know they're real, but your postwork make them feel painted, like a huge ornamental painting). Your postwork really is fine: It feels like a massive acrylic piece, part of the "photo-realist" painters, except that it's a real photo & you've made it a painting & piece of imagination all at once. And it's a fantasy that I really love, since this last month has been a litttttttle hectic, lol, and waves of spring are wonderful omens of joy to come. For this & for your wonderful friendship, my greatest thanks Tara, thank you so much for making something for me & for remembering. It's big, bursting, really painterly, and beautiful. Thank you. It's a wonderful joyous birthday gift!
