and sadness, no parent should have to bury their children. Wonderful shot!
I used to wander around an old cemetery in a town not far from me. It goes way back to the 1800's, and has many headstones similar to this one. They do have a very unique beauty.
Excellent work
I agree, their is a sad beauty here. Somebody really cared and loved.
Stunning post work.
Old grave yards are sooo awesome. Excellent capture!
Lovely carving work!
They have certain beauty.. This one is only 1932... Got some near me... 1700's! And the fattest man ever in Britain is buried here as well... I'll see what I can do! lol Rob
Outstanding capture my friend.
Nice capture, and great post work. I know just what you mean about old graveyards, I feel the same way about them. Had an opportunity to visit the Sleepy Hollow cemetary this past summer. Will definitely be going back, so much to shoot there.
Very nice capture and PP!
As others have pointed out, graveyards have an intriguing mix of beauty and history working in their favor. They're intended for the living, anyway, so I don't really see anything morbid in them. You're supposed to visit them, and though the current "residents" don't actually care one way or another, I think that simply visiting and wandering around, even for nothing more than artistic reasons, really serves the memories of all of those past lives, simply because they're becoming a part of something again...these people (especially through your photography) are touching other people again. As for this image. WOW! The textures and the colors are again, amazing! There's a kind of brooding "Gothic" quality to this, but without the heaving bosoms, sultry gentlemen with sinister agendas, or lurid descriptions that hinge of the "indescribably indescribable" qualities of some horror that goes, unsurprisingly, undescribed. This is superb work.
Wonderful capture!
