A very good title for the beginning of flight as well as the beginning of our first ever aircraft museum photography excursion... It was great fun to watch a fellow Rendo photographer approach each aircraft...what does she look at first, second, third...what type of POVs does she use...how does she compose...how many shots of each angle...must be a lot when you walk away with 630 shots after only 3 1/2 hours!!! Love your postwork on this Tara making this another one of your trademark photographs:)

This looks like a giant dragonfly--amazing our planes and jets of today got the origins from this amazing flying machine!!

Ah yes, I remember this. It is Leonardo Da Vinci's design for a glider. Looks a bit like a bird. I really like the soft light on this. Very nice.

This is something to behold. I have never seen it from this position and it is an education. The work and thought that went into creating this bird so that man could fly - the passion is evident. As is the passion of the artist - the diffused glow and light ad wonderful dimension to the image. This is now pasted in my memory. Thanks, Clive

It's amazing how early flying things look so frail and rather like insects! This is a sort of bird/dragonfly hybrid and it's as gorgeous as both and I can picture a little human figure in that rather complicated-looking seating contraption strangely resembling the head and legs of the insect. It's fascinating to look at "primitive" things like this and see the intellectual sophistication of the builder/designer, and your POV of this is perfect--it's a bit like the "beauty shot" of the USS ENTERPRISE or even the less graceful and far more brutish Galactica. I love it when images evoke such thoughts, and while I'm at it, I'd also fully expect to read about something like this in a China Miviélle novel--a delicate, winged contraption, powered by wind and thaumaturgy and piloted by a xenian--a Khephri perhaps, or a Scabmettler, or even a brave human. At any rate, this image evokes quite a lot and your treatment of it gives it a rich and wonderfully moody "otherworld" vibe. I love this!
