Description
A pair of male Boat-tailed Grackles. Wow, they were very noisy but let me get pretty close.
I don’t like to repeat postings but this is a good view of why they are called Boat-tailed Grackles. If you look at the tail, of the Grackle on the right, you can see that it looks like the keel of a boat. Beautiful iridescent blue-black colors and about 16 ½ inches (42cm) long and with a 14 ½ inch (37cm) wingspan. Photo taken at the Wakodahatchee Wetlands, February 2nd.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous comments and favs.

What beautiful birds--looks like they've giving someone quite a talk!!
Wonderful capture, it seems they are talking to each other an ignoring you!
Always opinionated, aren't they? :-) Great shot!
great capture!
Great photo! They're probably talking about how the Saints just kicked the Colts
Awww....Adorable Dana, beautiful shot my friend, love it!
They like my yard in the springtime... You've done a very good job of capturing these two rogues:)
Nice shot! If you look at their eyes, you can see they are both eyeballing you.
You have captured to colours in the feathers beautifully.
Great capture...
excellent capture!!
Excellent capture Dana! I can almost hear them now.

Big beaks, and such shiny feathers! Beautiful shot, Dana!
They are so clever...
Excellent capture! Sleek looking birds.
You are right, the name now makes sense. Lovely capture, they are having a good natter!!!!!
EXCELLENT SHOT!!!!!!
Great capture.
NEATO...Wonderful shot
Nice shot and the birds look better than the Crows in my field.
Excellent comparatively close capture of the two Grackles, talking up a storm, Dana. Love the colors and streamlined feather plumage on these avians, just like boat-tails. The wings appear rather long relative to their bodies.
Interesting and grogeous creatures. A super shot and info, Dana!
A great shot Dana, such a beautiful colour and such a sheen to the feathers. I have never heard of these birds, how wonderful we learn so much by coming here!!
wonderful birds!!!!! Great photo!!!
They're everywhere here in Texas, but I never bothered to find out their name... so, thanks for the info!
Excellent capture, Dana !!! (i campi sono liberi dall'acqua ) (fields are free from water)
I love watching grackles court! The male is industriously extending his wings and flexing his tail and the female is close by feigning total disinterest. Wonderful image! You caught their beauty and raucous nature perfectly!
Excellent!
