Description
Part of the entry ticket to the horse racing event on Saturday was a voucher to bet on a race with. I searched through all the races for a horse name which grabbed my fancy. The only one which stood out from the rest was the name ‘Turkey’.
I bet on it in the 3rd race and the money was well and truly gobbled. It strutted home in 2nd place – second-last of eleven that is!
Needless to say I put my eye behind the viewfinder for the rest of the day.
This ‘horse’ was a creation made out of soda cans standing at the entrance to one of the many ‘members only’ tents around the track. I de-saturated the background and added a diffused glow to make the turkey… umm… horse stand out a bit more.
Smile!

What a great creation!! I love the pic, and especially the very 1920's woman in the background, quite an extraordinary outfit! I once had a little flutter, in 1962 when betting shops became legal here. I was shown how to do a 4-horse accumulator and like you chose names I liked. They were all outsiders in country races, and I remember the names to this day. I put one shilling (5 pence) each way on each horse and they all came in and I was able to pay for all my art equipment from the academy shop in one go - £30!(when a wage was £10 a week.) I have never gambled since, stop while you're on top! The were called Art Student, Village Idiot, Spring Cabbage and Chips with Everything.
nice work ..
LOL A wonderful creation and and great bit of fun.. Fabulous bit of Postwork to boot as well, my friend! Well done! Rob
what a nice horse!!!!! Wonderful picture!!!!!!!!!
LMAO!!! When I saw your title I thought your first words are going to be.... "is still running"... Hehe... It was almost something like that! I love the image and the selective coloring makes the donkey look-alike pop! Great fun shot! :)
wonderful image!!
super super gorgeous!
Funny title ! Excellent contrast !
Good one Clive...for all the great reasons above:) My racing experience, like yours was short lived. Seems like you spend 98% of your time doing other things rather than watch horses run:)
Love the selective coloring. Much safer to gamble on getting a great shot than gambling cash on the races!
LOL Thanks so much for the grin and laugh too Hugs Susan~
How fun! :) This adds a nice touch to the day.

Lol i also gave up gambling. Outstanding capture Clive.
I think this was the most beautiful horse there. Nice shot.
