Description
Welcome to the first in a series of pictures which are intended to chart the construction in Earth orbit of the International Space Station or ISS as it is more commonly known. The first phase in the construction programme "Construction Phase 1A" would see the launch by Russian PROTON heavy lift booster on the 20th of November 1998 of the ZARYA module. Zarya is intended to supply the station with battery power, a fuel storage facility and docking ports for manned Soyuz missions to the station and Progress re-supply missions.
For those of you who do not know Soyuz is a three person Russian spacecraft and Progress a stripped out version of Soyuz used for carrying cargo.
This series of pictures are intended to set you up for two even larger space based series which I will be working on later in the year.
As always I hope you like what you see.
