Description
Ever since Bill bmac62 started posting the shots he took at that airplane museum in Dayton last spring, I have wanted him to come up here and go with me to Boeing's Museum of Flight, as well as Paul Allen's private plane collection.
I can't imagine a better person to look at old airplanes with! I like his vision of how planes can be photographed. He doesn't often show you the whole plane ... and you know how much I like that!
Planes are interesting to me as sculptures of wood and metal, light and mass, but I have zero interest in the statistics, or even which kind of planes they are. I know a few things, but it's just stuff I've picked up here and there.
So on Friday afternoon Bill arrived in Seattle, and on Saturday we went to the Museum of Flight.
What a hoot! We had a fabulous time. I took 620 photographs while we were there, and a few of them actually show the whole plane! I thought I'd start with one of those so you would know I was up to.
If you want to know what kind of planes I'm posting, you're on your own. Well ... you can ask Bill if you want to ... he took pictures of all the signs, poured over the interpretive maps, and memorized every single thing about every plane we saw. He'll say he didn't. His definition of "knowing everything about planes" is quite different from mine.
Anyway ... I had a fantastic time.

I am so with you girlfriend of having zero interest in planes! Hell, I don't even like flying in them! However, this image is perfect and like PJ said - the power of three works wonders! I love the almost overexposed background - it really makes the planes pop! Glad you guys had a great time! :)

I love planes, but mostly jets...because as a kid I'd always pretended they were space shuttles re-entering the atmosphere. These, however, are gorgeous and I love the light and the colors. They're flying in formation too! How sweet is that! These are gorgeous pieces of functional art! This is a great shot!
Only airplane people can appreciate airplanes...But you know Cessna was named after a airplane, my Larry liked airplanes and when I see one go over now I say his flying it....He had every copy of Flight Simulator and played it while I was at work...Cheap fuel and I could actually drink coffee when he was flying it...lol
