Description
See the bird? It is a Egretta garzetta (Little Egret) that has figured out that there is an easy way to look for food in the marina.
The 'vehicle' is the only fuel powered 'boat' on the water, basically a glorified paddle boat. The scoop on the front gets lowered into the shallow water to chomp away at the water weeds with those teeth. There are two rows of teeth which act like clippers.
The weed is then pulled into the boat by the metal conveyer belt, with a similar one at the back to offload the cuttings on the bank of the waterway.
This is where the wise Egret comes in…
it sits on the sides of the scoop waiting for the weed to travel up the conveyer. Then it hops down on the cuttings and picks out frogs, fish, crabs, etc. before hopping off and waits for the next load.
Clever Little Egret!
Cheers,
Clive
