Description
A couple weeks ago Denise and I went down to Picnic Point and took a few pictures. It was a grey and cloudy day, and we had a lovely time!
She posted an image entitled View at Picnic Point and said I would recognise it.
My jaw hit the floor! In all the times I'd been down there, I'd never seen this wreck. I knew it was there, but didn't realize it was visible from Picnic Point!
So I went back on a sunny day last weekend to see what I could see.
Whadda-ya know! There it was.
I can't tell you how long I've sat with the Google map, scouring the coastline, figuring angles, looking at the photographs Denise and I took, and this still doesn't make sense!
Maybe it's not really there. Maybe it's one of those scenes in a movie with haunting music ... the kind that lets you know you're going to hear the story of something that happened long ago.
I would tell you all about this wreck, but I don't know anything about it except that it's on private property.

I remember this being alongside a railway track.....still looks good. Nice memories for all.
I saw this in Denise's picture and was wondering... Glad you checked it out and got us another image. Is the shoreline, beyond the railroad tracks still considered private property? If so, maybe that's why this old derelict used-to-float something is still there. The property owner probably would have to spend a lot to get it removed! Cool. Here's to those quiet, hazy days without rain:)
I did wonder about it in Denise's post and this is a great closer look at it. There are many mysteries on the coast. I bet someone knows about this - a local shop or old-timer. Just ask around.
It's funny how we can do that--trip over the same thing time and again, and one day, wow!! I didn't know that was there. There's a story about this somewhere--bet you'll find it!!
It blends so well with it's surroundings. A great example of how everything eventually returns to the earth.
Is there any history regarding it..looks as if its been there for some time..the image is worth your trip..

How odd that this wreck is actually a part of the landscape; it's like a mummy of a boat rather than a boat itself. How wonderful! A bit creepy too, but creepy is good. The fact that you can find no information on it makes me think that there's a lot to the story (or nothing at all, as is often the case) and that just adds to the appeal of this! WOW! I love it. Great details and POV too. WOW. I wonder if there are little isopods eating it or tunneling through it...
