Description
The coffee companies of Seattle have taken over the world, as everyone knows. The marketing of this phenomenon is fascinating to me.
This is a coffee shop in Chicago, but the photos on the wall are of Seattle coffee consumption. The whole thing struck me as being odd, but I'm not much of a consumer, so don't go by me!
I took photographs of photographs because of the reflections (you have to love glass frames!).
In this one you can see the back of Marilyn's head, bottom right. :D

This coffee break marks the end of our Friday morning stroll through the Near North Side of Chicago. We really did take a coffee break, and then we took a bus farther into town and walked around the Millenium Park area.
I'm not posting these images in strict order ... you've already seen a few from later in the trip ... but the shots from Friday morning are pretty much all up now, and we're moving into Friday afternoon.
Aren't you glad I don't go away for the weekend more often? LOL! I bet you already think I'll never be done with Chicago. (You may be right about that. This might be like one of those movies where everything happens over and over again until you want to scream.)

There is so much happening here Tara! I love the reflections of reflections... it create this wonderful depth! Love it! BTW - There is one of the mentioned Seattle coffee shops less than 1km from my office now! I will go there one day and take a pic for you! (Kitties are good... one very small but looks ok)

OH, I remember this so well--we had quite a conversation about it. Seattle rules, for sure!! LOVE this foto--I didn't realize I had such a cute head!! We ended up at a couple of these places--and each time there was something different to see. Oh yeah, there was coffee, too!!

I certainly understand the photos on their walls. If I were a cafe, I'd do classic scenes around town, if I were a car repair, I'd do restored or race cars, if I am a specialty shop and specialize in coffee, I'd have pictures of coffee. I like the reflections over the framed picture. Interesting effect.
Took me a little while to decipher the backwards red sign with the green border (half way down on the right edge of your shot)...Seattle's Best! Isn't glass wonderful?!

This is a really great shot, I like the reflection. As far as coffee, I live off it. Most people up here do. Companies move here because of the work ethic. In other words they have a hard time in other places finding so many people to live at work. It's expected up here, so we live on coffee. It keeps us going 12 to 14 hours a day.

This is so damn surreal! Pictures within pictures. The first impression is that you have taken a photo through a store window. Then you see the text and realize it's a picture. Just when you think you know what's in the picture you realize that it carries over onto the frame. So, other than the giant hand, what is in the picture you photographed?

Great shot.. so much to see in here~ (I know what you mean about going away and taking photos~ I recently went on a trip and have been so overwhelmed with the photos ~ about 12 gb ~, I didn't even know where to begin.. lol... )
This image reminds me of a Cylon narrative from the reimagined Battlestar Galactica. I can imagine the infinite copies of that weirdly poetic Cylon ship/humanoid hybrid babbling in her tank: "Images within images as the quantum nature of reality adjusts to the pinprick of lust on the ear of a child...all capacitors charged and standing by while butterflies sing the praises of coffee...three times now...three times twice we have seen God in empty cups, it is time for coffee but time is made from time, many times and the cups are empty in reflections of glass and shadow...weapons charged. JUMP." Or something like that. I have no idea why stuff like this pops into my head, especially in terms of art, but there you have it. As for this image, it's gorgeous. I love the reflections and the incongruity of Seattle referenced in Chicago...but ah...Chicago is like that, in order to gain legitimacy, we steal from other cities! It's always been this way...but hey, perhaps that's the nature of advertising. I love the colors in this image, those rich golds and cooler daylight tones. And Marilyn is there! WOW! Wonderful work! I love this and I'll never get tired of your Chicago shots. I love them all and they're some of the things this city can claim for itself, if it had the sense to do so!
