Description
Captured back on 4/11/09, early in the morning, about 1.5 miles/2.414 kilometers from my reclusive residence.
Reflections galore on display from a forgotten folder.
I had driven and walked by this magnificent dark window edifice a jillion and one times before realizing it would be a photographer's dream to shoot.
I took 127 pics, on two Saturdays a month apart, on a day of the week I figured there wouldn't be much business going on in this business building. It had originally been a General Telephone headquarters until Verizon came on the scene. Now it just leases out office space to various companies. I'm really surprised that there were no security cameras around to record my every move as I circled the structure, snapping away with wild abandon. In fact, I expected a guard to come running out at any moment to harass me. But both photo shoots were mostly uneventful.
These shots were taken from an adjacent vacant lot, and I was stunned, considering the ample light available, that the photos came out so dark. My theory is that the window reflectivity overwhelmed the lens, which in turn overcompensated for the effect.
Pictures 1 and 3 in this collage are the originals; 2 and 4 are the Photoshop postworked versions. I suspect there are those that will choose the originals as their favorites, possibly bacause of the dark and brooding effect.
Incidentally, this is the back of the building.
Anyway, I couldn't look through the windows, even from up close, but I'm sure anyone inside could look out.
There are definitely more fotos to come, mostly closeups, of this spectacular spartan glass-enclosed beauty.
Ta-ta, and thankx for clicking on.

Wow impressive building, nothing like walking 'into' yourself :-)
I think I prefer the PS'd versions best...I like light:) I've never photographed a mirrored building and guess I'll have to look around and find one. A building like this has all sorts of potential. Nice job Harry.
They must go through a heck of a lot of Windex lol It sure is a pretty structure, and you can check your hair on the way into the office.. lol
Oh, I LOVE those cloud reflections in the building....awesome work...and I like both versions equally.
Great cloud reflections nice capture...
I love how it looks almost transparent with the sky reflecting; wonderful shots both before and after your postworking...
Upon further reflection...great series of shots!
this is wonderful looking
Fantastic collage of images Harry! I just love the broody ones. Guess it reflects my mood of late! Wonderful work indeed! :)
These are pretty amazing buildings, I've seen them but never had my camera handy!!
I love mirrored buildings! (Except when I'm driving and they are throwing light into my eyes.) Wonderful shots! It's funny how the first one looks like the shiny side of aluminium foil and the third like the dull side. I wonder about those lights too. They must be very bright to do much good from way up there and the thought of changing the bulbs...no thank you. I like #1 the best. I'm looking forward to seeing some more of that 127.
They are such a good idea! excellent pics.
fabulous reflection, no 3 is my favorite...smile
Wonderful building and nicely postworked. Cool stuff Harry, I like it!
