Description
Soon I'll be heading for home. I've been gone over two months, and it's been a most amazing journey. I came here, thinking I'd be here maybe a month, if that. Instead, I just moved in, shuttling between my sister's and my friend's houses. It's given me the chance to rethink my life, and now I know I'm on the right path. Leaving will be really hard, I love so much about this place. Southern California has a bad rap, all the people, the traffic, etc, etc. Somehow, I got over that, got passed it, and you know what? We're all just souls looking for our own lives, our own peace. You CAN find it anywhere.
I have found mine--and it's in my heart. Where my body is doesn't matter.
This shot is the north end of Catalina Island, just as we left for home. Just another magic moment ---one of so many.

Oh Marilyn... this is so beautiful! And now I hear you loud and clear... HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS. Where have I heard that before????
marvelous view, good to hear you've found your way. RS
Do you HAVE to leave? Rhetorical, I don't need an answer!
just wish judgments would go away not to return to hurt wonderful work thinks warm hugs, Linda
Beautiful view...
Beautiful view...fog and all. Saw a show recently where the claim was that SC and some other islands at one time were all a part of the main land. Dramatic forces are always at work in California. Agree with your conclusion. My wife used to say, "Bloom where you are planted".
I love the fog banks against the hills, what a lovely shot...
beautiful
beautiful!
Excellent ambiance in this kool kapture, Marilyn! Foggy feelings are exactly what I have when I wake up in the morning. All the bad things about Southern California can be traced back to extreme overpopulation. I can remember when it was a pleasure to go out for a drive, go to the beach, all of the nice spots in Hollywood and the mountains, etc. Now all I have are memories of those halcyon days.
This is really a gorgeous shot! WOW, I am glad you found what you were looking for.
I once read in a Samuel R. Delany novel that home is a place you can never visit for the first time, because once you realize that it's home, you also realize that you've been there before. Though it sounds literal, I think it's more a testament of home being a state of mind (or spirit) and I agree that you can never visit it "for the first time." You've been there before, which is why it's home...it may not have been the literal, physical place, but it was there nonetheless. It's what Pavl said to me in Prague a while back. Home is where everybody's soul speaks the same language. I love this shot. Like Picasso, you seem to have entered a Blue Period--not mood-wise, just color-wise...this and the previous image share that in common, and both are rich and beautiful. This one is particularly restful. I really like the clouds. They look alive. This is wonderful!
Very lovely capture, this looks great.. love the fog against the hilly background, nice work beautiful!!
Such an interesting capture... Excellent. Aloha
You have been on a spiritual retreat, as odd as it may seem to say in connection with SoCal, but it could have happened anywhere or everywhere. Write them down, those things you have learned that you know you will never forget ...
excellent capture
Excellent image
Super capture - looks very South Pacific. Dana
The fog reminded me of along Cape Mendicino. Nice photo
