Description
It had been some months since his last meal - a largish four legged creature which had provided nourishment over the colder months while he stayed in his lair, set deep in the banks at the far reaches of the creek.
But now the warmer weather and the sound and smell of those two legged prey made him alert and hungry again. Yes, he remembered he had eaten them a couple of times before - a good meal, easy to digest and they didn't seem to have many defences.
Half walking along the bottom of the creek and half propelling himself with powerful and sinuous strokes of his tail, he swiftly yet almost silently emerged from his lair and carved his way through the slow current.
Yes, this was going to be easy - they didn't even seem to be aware of his presence, as they continued to play and laugh and splash!

Yes, you knew it was coming, didn't you! This is a version of the original image that inspired the whole story. In the time it took to do a render without the people - although they were always planned - I had the whole story planned out, characters defined and images outlined!
