Description
A few photos from our Tahoe trip.
The top two are from the eastern shore, near Incline Village. The bottom two are from Emerald Bay on the west shore, including a closeup of the "castle island."
In the middle is Kathy, my beautiful bride of 21 years. Why she would put up with an old goat like me for so long is beyond me, and she means the world to me.
If you look at the Emerald Bay pics, you can see what looks like rocky beach around the bay. In fact, this rim should not be so visible: The lake is currently about 8 feet lower than it should be, the result of a few years of low-rain drought conditions. Sadly, the continuing drought and man-made runoff have contributed to silting and algae blooms so that Lake Tahoe is losing about 10 feet of clarity each year.
The lake is situated in an absolute Sierra wonderland. You can see (for the moment) the crystal clear lake, pine forests, mountains, babbling streams, extensive arboreal hardwood stands, and (a short drive away) areas reminiscent of high desert. If you get a chance, come take a look at this little piece of heaven - while it still exists...
