Description
Last evening the police helicopter was circling overhead just behind the tree line for about an hour. And police cars and motorcycles were everywhere. No idea what was going on because the action was one street away but as I watched the sun was going down behind the trees so I decided to show you that instead of the copter or cycles. The street I live on has more wires than Carter has pills, rarely can I get a shot without the wires. Twenty minutes after I took this more police action and this time it was almost in my front yard. Busy night for law enforcers! No pics of that as one of the policemen told me I couldn't take any! But 4 men were arrested and an atv was hauled away..,The street was blocked off and every car was stopped and the drivers were asked for their licenses. Oddly there is nothing in the news about all this today...
Many thanks to Ronnie (PD154) for alerting me to something that some of you may not know...shooting into the sun can kill your camera! modern digital cameras work by capturing light on the electronic sensor harsh sunlight (Ultra violet) can burn out the sensor, rendering the cam useless

All very fascinating! we have the same here so often, kept awake by the 'copter but never any news about why. And in the daytime too, when it's hot and I could go topless in my nice private garden, I have to keep a shirt handy!! LOL!

Great capture here Lynn and it sounds like something big was going down. It's amazing what the police tell you during a crisis as I think it is a good idea to get photos of such events.
Excellent capture Lynn, please be careful shooting into the sun, not just for your eyes, it can kill your camera!

I would have to wonder and question the police officer telling you that you could not take pictures, what about the press and reporters that have theirs cameras into anything and everything these days. And I have heard the same thing about shooting directly into the sun, so Ronnie wasn't just pulling your leg.. at least not this time lol.. have a nice night..

Great shot and fascinating story. Where i live, which has become the worst street in town during the last 10 years, pushers do their turf wars any time of the day or the night, and the patrols of polirce and soldiers (mixed together), police alone, ambulances , firemen, etc. run make to miss some words of our TV movie. It takes a lot to move us from our armchairs of computer screen and lean on the window to look at what is happening. We took som shots for a while, but in the end it's even boring.;D)

Excellent capture into the sun but I am glad you warned me about the sun damaging the sensor. I will be more careful. Our local rag is the best place to get the local news as most of the others seem to miss a lot.
