Description
Here is a humble effort from the trip Bill (bmac62), Rob (debbielove) and yours truly made to Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. The U-505 is a Type IX u-boat captured in June of 1944 by a US Navy hunter/killer group. If you have visited Bill's gallery you know the full story and have seen better photos. (I had a lot of problems with the musuem lighting - either too much or too little.)
Anyway, I like the view of the 37mm anti-aircraft gun. The level of the conning tower that it sits on was called the "Wintergarden" by the German sailors. FYI: The big 10.5cm deck guns were removed from most German subs during 1943-44. By this time it was too dangerous to surface and use them on Allied merchantmen.
I've been on the road lately, so I'll have to catch up on visiting your gallerys.

These came out well, mt friend! Not bad all ..... I too struggled A LOT with the lighting down there... And kids! Again! Machine gun not handy... But looks REAL good, my friend.. Top one especially... Rob.
