Description
My early years were spent in the "Thumb" of Michigan's mitten, so I was very much aware of our wonderful neighbor to the north, Canada. Even then, I only got to cross over into Canada on the bridge at Port Huron for one very short afternoon. However, Canada had captured my heart and I always wanted to go back to take a good long look. It never happened until I was in my late fifties, when my step-sister and I went to Vermont on a serious family matter. We decided, though, to go to Vermont via Canada, so we entered at Sault Ste. Marie, traveling Provincial Route 17 through Sudbury to North Bay, where we stayed the night. In the morning, we continued to Ottawa, then took Highway 73 to Montreal, where we again stayed overnight before heading back to the States and Burlington, Vermont, where our brother lived. It was a beautiful fall with all sorts of color. I was determined to someday take my wife to see Montreal; especially the Old Town section, and we did go there about five years later and stayed for three wonderful days at a wonderful bed and breakfast in the old section.
So with all those wonderful sights, you may ask, why am I showing you this particular picture of an underground highway. Well, simply because it was one of the things that intriqued me about Montreal. They seemed to have a whole lot of underground highway there--at least more than I'd ever encountered before. It is just one of the images that has always stuck in my mind. There is a significant part of their downtown area that is completely underground and that is a whole other world, too. Anyway, you folks in Montreal, I love your city and hope to get back to it at least once more in this life.
Thanks for looking and for your comments and encouragements. All are appreciated.
Jeremy
CREDITS:
Bryce 6.1, Poser 6.0.
Vehicles: Various freebies from several places: Planit3d, 3D Cafe, etc. Think Peter Staub may have made a couple. That's about the best I can do to identify them as they were all downloaded years ago. I added all the working lights on the vehicles and the greeen grain trailer on the truck in the upper left.
Tunnel: Again, I can't recall where I got this.

Great looking scene! I have made a few trips to Canada in my life (my Mom was Canadian) and have always loved the people and the country. I have even thought of moving there. :O)
What a wonderful image Jeremy.. Thanks much for sharing your memories with us..
wow! is a great one Jeremy!!
I was going to ask you where you got the tunnel, but oh, never mind. Spent most of the seventies in Buffalo, so I've been to Canada about a hundred times. And now I'm in Seattle so I've been another few dozen times. There's a tunnel like that on the way to Vancouver too, beneath the Fraser, I think.
very much an outstanding render.love the tunnel

Excellent render Jeremy...like the lighting, and in particular the figures on the bus...great attention to detail!

Very nice render.
Very nice scene!
Well done!
Good work and POV
Excellent Jeremy! I lived in Montreal from 1958 to 1966 and there were no underground highways then as I can recall. My first child was born there. Thanks for bringing me up to date as all of this is new to me. I was last in Montreal in 1976 just after the Olympics. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent.
It looks like tunnel Hyppolite-Lafontaine, good job :) If underground highways fascinate you, you have to see, they have miles and miles of underground shops downtown :) They call it the underground city (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underground_City,_Montreal) I'm next door to Ottawa myself, on the Quebec side and work in Ottawa :)
A wonderful tribute.....
I find the surroundings a bit confusing, good work on the cars
Love this one it reminds me of why Im an artist as you have captured the world the way it looked through my eyes as a child and that to me is what its all about. Bravo and hats off once again
I'm happy to hear you appreciated Montreal so much. Being a "Montrealer", & seeing you praise my beloved city, touches me dearly. I recognised l'autoroute Ville Marie right away, but your right, le Vieux Montreal is so much more picturesque! Well done ...
Wow, just love it, outstanding work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
