Description
I have photographed a number of backyard birds since beginning my series on birds in early May but the smaller birds have been difficult to get in the right light and standing still.
The Carolina Chickadee has a black cap and bib and white cheeks. It is small with a length of 4 3/4 inches. Call: chick-a-dee-dee-dee. Song is a four note whistle, fee-bee fee-bay.
Thanks for stopping by and all your continued comments and favorites.

WC Fields' favorite bird! Except for the head detail, it sure looks like a sparrow. With that fine clarity and textures, you have gotten your avian captures down to a science.
I always like fee-bees!outstanding shot
Beautiful bird bill!!!
The detail in the feathers is simply unquestionable. Stellar pose and polished work.
They are such cute birds. Great capture!
Do you soak the seeds in rum?? lol just kidding but another fantastic shot.
He looks so cute and the small ones are very hard to get close to, as I know, I have been trying for ages.
Bill with each shot you are getting better and better!
you are getting beter and better in your bird shots, Bill, what a cute little one
Superb photo, I see chickadees in my yard all of the time, but getting a good photo of one has been impossible for me.
very nice shot, bill, and you caught it in a nice position against the background, since the background is nicely divided so the wood-colored sections 'back' the bird, while the rest is green. (Just basic composition stuff.) Nice detail on the feathers too, and he spans the image well. Fine work.
