Description
WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE
When it all
Fell apart
I wondered
How their lives
Would turn out
So I've been watching
Noticing what has changed
And what has
Stayed the same
At first
They were both
Heartbroken
Crying all the time
So sad it didn't work out
But really
There was no way
To hold it together
At the end
Their love
Had been
A living thing
Full of light
And joyful discovery
But done is done
And sometimes
You just have to
Move on
Over the last year
I have seen her
Slowly healing
She realizes
That what she was
When she was with him
Is who she is
Even when
Nobody's looking
She took that love
And all that learning
She grew
And became more
Than she was
Before
His experience
Has been different
Somehow
He thinks his love
Was about her
And not about him
So instead of
Learning
That he is more
Than he thought he was
He has decided
She was everything
And now she's gone
He thinks she
Took it all away with her
When she left
But really
All that love
Was his as well
And it's who he is
Even when
Nobody's looking
So now I watch
As she moves on
Her love intact
Her heart a shining thing
She will always love him
For what they were
And what he taught her
Their relationship
Added happiness
To her life
Even though
She will never see him again
And I watch
While he cries
Missing the love
He thinks he's lost
He still looks for her
Dreams of her
He believes his love
Is contained
In her memory
And not in his heart
Do you see
How he's looking
In the wrong direction?

Marvelous! Thought-provoking and such profound truth............Love it!
So much of this speaks to me, touches my very soul. I loved hearing it and I love reading it--beautiful words, beautifully written, bittersweet thoughts....
I can only echo Beachzz. You wrote so clever words, Tara. Deeply touching and very wise. Thank you for sharing this.
I echo Marilyn and Helle - it is so familiar... in so many ways!!! It speaks right into my heart... An instant fav!!! :)
Wonderfully written :)
That pretty much strikes true for me. Simply swap the roles of "he" and "she" in my case. Stirred some emotion and recalled some memories........
Very familiar words, brought forth memories of my own growing 'pains', dreams lost but knowledge gained. Wonderful writing Tara!
It is like it was written in the Sand and speaks of the Sands of time. Nice!!
powerful & inward piece on love and the illusions that come with it. You tell a story in many of your poems, and yet they're poetry and not prose. And you've taken us through her growth from being with someone to being a bigger person in his absence; and then you gently shift to him, as he fails to see that he was something separate of her as well...and your ending simply asks, "does he see he's looking to the wrong place for the love he misses..." Very poignant, tenderly written, and your lines are as always expressive in and of themselves. A gentle story in a poem, with much about everyone. Sensitively felt & written, Tara, as always...
fabulous wrting ! very powerful indeed
Very well done.
Makes me quite introspective in a good way.
Your writings touch me like no other and I wish I could explain to you exactly what I mean by that, but it is hard to put into words. But when I am reading what you have written I am just drawn in to the story and the wisdom that you impart to us is so profound. You have a real gift with your writing. I think you should publish and I'll be first in line for an autographed copy.
perfectly put wonderful work warm hugs and love, Linda Kaye
... nice prologue now, bring on the chapters .
Wonderful written Tara...your a good photography and a writer
Very beautifully written and moving imagery
I know so many people that could apply too. Very beautifully written.
Super work and so near to life.
This is astonishing! So perceptive! This is also the perfect medium, kind of what Harlan Ellison once described as "Quick skirmish writing" where you get in, make your point, then stand back and feel the intensity of it warming everything within a 2 light year radius. How often people make the same mistake, remembering love as a mind thing, rather than a heart thing, and how often it leaves wo/men in utter desolate ruin. This is gorgeously written and gently, compassionately perceptive.
Very vivid piece, auntietk! So many people could do well by learning the lesson in this piece.
A truly outstanding comparison of two perceptions of the same experience. Strange how we are all capable of feeling either side of that one. Odd how we never know which one will surface. Its almost like we never learn from our experience...
This is all so wonderfully true, and I'm sure the roles are seldom reversed. Statistics prove that the suicide rate for men is so much greater than women, upon the ending of a relationship. I long thought that it was because generally, women will have let go mentally long before they actually announce the decision. I think now, that there is more truth in your words as to why this might be. Mostly because I was him, searching in the wrong direction, it is so easy to become lost then.....and finding one's way back, so very difficult!
so touching
Excellent wrighting skill... sounds like it comes from the heart... and rings of truth!!! You win the quarter ... My painting is titled, left behind... Don't tell Ralph (Vintorix) Tom
I marvel how your writings touch my heart, in so many ways. And tomorrow, rereading this same poem, I will be touched in another way. Sometimes good – sometimes haunting. This is true of most of your work. Oh and all beneficial. Dana
Speachless I am Tara, and touched by your words
Excellent! You tell it all! Emotional and deep.
Wow, fantastic words.
