Description
Please don't miss a zoom on this one.
I am always interested in capturing my backyard birds in as much detail as possible and this young House Finch afforded me just that opportunity.
As I photograph birds 10-20 feet out my kitchen window, the biggest variable is lighting based upon the time of the day and the weather. Some times, all factors come together for a high resolution result...lots of times they don't :-)
Hope you enjoy this juvenile finch standing in the ever present seed bowl.
Bill:)

Your aim is getting much better! I have been thinking about getting a wireless shutter release and putting camera on tripod outside pre focused. After about an hour I think the birds etc will ignore it.
Wonderful how much detail there is when all the conditions co-incide. Well done indeed! Clive
Wow Bill this is a beautiful capture... super detail.. mighty photo!!
Love the expression on this fella....exceptional detail...!!!
A beautiful bird and capture, dear Bill. Superb work. The birds bring such joy when we watch them. Have a good day. Hugs. Diane. xx
Fantastic!!
Fantastic photo.
Just Stunning!!!
Very nice Bill. I like David's idea of the wireless shutter remote. I have one myself and use it all the time.....
Whoo! Excellent image. Talk of "wireless releases" makes me green with envy.
Great capture of her eating lunch.
fantastic capture!!!!!
Excellent work, Bill. What a great pose this little bird has!
nice capture!
extraordinary capture, very cool!the details are impressive!
Excellent shot Bill, good focus on this.
Excellent photo and the large version certainly shows much more detail. My compliments.
wonderful photo!!!!
Stellar clarity, lighting and feather textures in this awesome capture of the young finch, standing in the feed bowl, complacently unaware that it is under close scrutiny. Can't get much more detailed than that, unless through an electron microscope. Good one, Bill!
Excellent image Bill! The seed in the beak is more detail than you can ever ask for!!! Fantastic indeed!!! :)
I was thinking the same thing as Fred..... Not easy to capture our wild birds. They are afraid of me and my camera.. Nice clean capture. Aloha
Great Job Bill and far better to grab these shots with camera in hand. Lighting is often key esp side lighting for extra detail
You got exactly what you aimed for! My camera doesn't do as well at 20 feet. that is what most of my house finch shots have been. Really find detail and a wonderful capture of it's character.
fantastic detail great to have nature at home
he actually looks like he is posing for you!!
Excellent image, as are all of your backyard bird shots. Well done.
A good one Bill....
I'd say that you made your goal. Awesome detail. Dana
Fantastic, Bill. This closeup of a finch is anything but common.
You accomplished the detail beautifully! Excellent capture.
