Description

Whale watch off Gloucester, MA about 30 years ago - nasty cold weather that day. Much to our surprise, one of the older humpback whales popped up right next to the boat. I had a telephoto lens on my camera and took this shot with the whale less that 10 feet away. Not my best shot. You can see the barnacles under his chin, only on the older whales and his eye was just under the surface of the water. He looked at each one of us as we floated by him. A hold your breath moment. After we passed him, he went back under. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous comments & favs. Dana

I had a similar experience photographing an orca underwater - he came right up to me and looked me over pretty good. I sure knew I'd been given the once-over!
