Description
Tara (auntietk) is always showing us just a smidgeon of something. Taking that as my cue for this almost inhuman quiz, I present you with a tail wheel photographed at Dayton in the National Museum of the USAF.
It is the tail wheel from what??? I'll post the answer sometime tomorrow, July 10th.
Those of you who may have built models years ago probably have a leg up:-) Yes it was built in large numbers.
Thanks for stopping by. Remember this is all Tara's fault!
Bill:)))
Added Hint: The manufacture makes cars today that are available for purchase in the USA and probably most other countries too.

I have built many models in my youth but somehow the plane escapes me! I'm stumped!
I have no idea. Great shot!!
no idea great shot
I seem to recall building an Airfix kit years ago was Zero, right?...Neat shot though
same as lyron and tpx1!! :)
maybe a Saab? or a Mitsubishi product?? no idea which or which model, though.... been a LONG time since I put a kit together! :-))
Ummm.... I will have to wait ....! Clive
OOOHHH flip, no good asking me!!!! Put a breed of dog up & I hopefully will give it a go!!!!!!!
waiting for your answer here cuz I sureeee dunno...lol
It is the tail wheel from what??? JEEZE, IT'S A TAIL WHEEL OF AN AIRPLANE. ANYBODY OUGHT TO KNOW THAT. GOOD SHOT. HAD TO GET ON YOUR HANDS AND KNEES FOR THAT ONE DIDN'T YOU? ;-) CHEERS, MUG LIFTED IN YOUR DIRECTION.
It's a great compo!
I have no idea ...the best of luck to the rest of ya! LOL
Flavia says: "Mitsubishi A62M Zero".
Excellent capture!!
This is an excellent way to introduce the kamikaze.
A real hefty tail wheel. Looks like a tail light on the end. Your hint indicates a Japanese or Swedish model Okay, I'll take a chance and say this is a Mitsubishi A6M Zero-Sen. And, Tara has to knock off this mystery stuff.
Sandra suggests: KAWANISHI N1K2-JA SHIDEN KAI (GEORGE) (just to differ from F.)
According to some photos on the web it looks like the Zero as others have mentioned....
I have NO idea, I"ll just go along with the others! lol
Don't know, but I'll wait for your answer.
Okay, Mr. Smarty-pants, here's your plane: Flavia was right, it's a A6M2 Zero (Thank heavens for Flavia, because otherwise I would have never found it!) At first I thought ... no ... but the color was a dead giveaway. :P I love the shot! The composition, the light and shadow, make for a great abstract. Ummm ... no Pitot tube back here, so I'm lost. Is that a little tail light or something?
If they build cars now, it's either SAAB or Mitsubishi. (BMW would seem like another guess, but I believe they only made the engines and not a whole aircraft.) Nor does it seem old enough to be from a Ford tri-motor. (A U.S. auto maker's only known entry into aviation that I'm aware of.) SAAB seems to be better known for their stuff from the early jet age, and this looks more vintage than that. So I'll go with the other guesses saying it's a Zero. (But then again, Mitsubishi made more aircraft models than that, so it could still be the right company and era but wrong aircraft.)
Looks like a WWII carrier based aircraft tailwheel to me. A quick check of my model shelf says I'll go with paulis75 on a Mitsubishi Zero type.
You could probably show the whole aircraft and most people here still wouldn't have any idea! I think Tara's baiting us!
Great close up Bill! Great Quiz Wickedly cruel! Shall not enter for obvious reasons!! Good though. Rob.
Considering I just woke up I have NO CLUE... lol but I am sure enjoying your series on different aircraft.
Boy you ask a simple question and the fans riot!!!! It's a great detail shot, that's what it is! Zeke!
Its the tailwheel of a tail dragger haha!!!
no idea but very intriguing
GREAT POV
