Sterling clarity, colors, lighting and textures in this shot of the grateful Cardinal enjoying a Safflower seed repast. Before I converted to Canola mayonnaise, I used the Safflower variety.
I love the delicate little red 'crest' om its head.
What a great capture of this little lady, wonderful work!!!
He's enjoying those!
yeah, they love 'em dont they :) Good one Bill! :)
I know I'm skipping, but I had to get a bird in here too! Wonderful how you captured the bird with seed in its mouth, and in such a still posture. Nice light on the bowl too, how it frames its edges. The posture of the bird looks noble; and it's a beautiful bird too, with that beatiful red highlighting on the wings and tail, and those beautiful blues on the tail too. Some of your bird shots are very simple—a simple bowl, a bird, a ledge and lots of feed—but they're very complex too. That's one of the things that makes these shots so enticing. And the background is suitably deep and ocean-like, allowing the bird to stand out. More fine bird portraiture from you (esp considering how quickly they can move) and a fine place to end for now. I'll be back next session, as I still have things to say on these other shots! Wonderful to be here, and glad to see the birds showing up throughout.
a very nice bird!!!! Great photo!!!!!!

Lovely capture, Bill! I really like the blue reflections you were able to capture in her feathers!

Oh, they DO love the safflower seeds, don't they? Especially in the dead of winter. You can almost see them smile, LOL.
