Description
Digitaleagle mentioned that I should begin seeing juveniles showing up at my feeder soon. I think that is what I've got here. This photo was taken 2-3 mornings ago...just prior to my Safflower seed discovery.
I think these are one of several kinds of common sparrows in the area. Does anybody have a better handle on what we're looking at here?
This group, although four in number here, has been arriving as a flight of five.
CHANGE 1. Digitaleagle helped me out again:-) These are House Finches. I have seen a male with them although he is not here at this time. The male has red on the front of his head and bib and rump.
Thanks for looking,
Bill:)

Food, food, food! Great crop of the family capture, Clive
Nice capture.. Lovely to see the young ones there. Nice work!!
Got NO idea, Bill but what a lovely picture! A great capture. Good to see the Mum trusting enough to bright young this close.... Cool shot. Rob.
This is great Bill! I have not seen birds so young like this before.
A delightful scene!
love the image...well done..!!!
Wish I had my bird book with me bill, I know there are so many different kinds. danny would know :) He knows his birds. what I love about this shot is how you managed to get all of the birds in perfect focus!!! I know if it was me taking this, only one would be somewhat in focus .. unless of course I start using my tripod, then maybe that ONE would be good. ;)
Cool babies!!!! Yes the seagulls follow the ferry. My opportunity to get close. I always take a loaf of bread cheep cheat cheap... LOL
Nice capture. This does look like a crew that's still learning the ropes. They spend more time trying to figure it out than actually getting the seeds. We watch the younger jays come and study the situation and leave without taking anything at first. Then they can't decide and pick everything up and still don't take a seed or nut. Fun to watch.
Very cool shot!!
fantastic capture!!!
The only thing I know for sure is that they're little birds on your deck railing, and that they're awfully cute. Excellent capture of the family out for their morning meal!
sublime family shot! a great picture of those poetic little sparrows!

Aww, great capture, Bill!
wonderful scene!!!!! Great photo!!!!!!
The first thought I had when I saw your title was of my family on our annual trips from Phoenix to southern California. We'd leave around 2 or 3 am, to beat the desert heat, and stop somewhere for breakfast. I'm the oldest of 5, so you can imagine the bedlam, getting all of us fed with a minimum of chaos!! Great shot---I think these little guys are much better behaved than we were!!
Awe they are so lovely. They are lucky birds in your garden. Sorry not really up on birds names.
nice capture
I usually have to get on-line and go through bird IDs for whatever is located in my area when I take birds shots. Its not always easy, especially for these smaller brown birds. Lovely shot though and seeing them still traveling together as a family at this age is great.
hehe so cute!!! :-)
A family outing with a purpose...and a great shot..
gorgeous!!!
Great capture Bill, such a sweet scene!
Aahhh Bill - they are mighty cute little fellows and clearly loving the spread you are offering them!!! Fantastic image my friend!! :)
I`m seeing quite a few young ones at my bird table .Its quite a sight seeing another generation :o)..As to your question most of my shots are handheld ,but sometimes I do sit in situ with a tripod and wait .Cracking shot Bill Mick
I must start with the mix you have mentioned.....maybe this week.....Nice work Bill!
very great image I love the way daddy / mommy are watching them
Neat pic, Bill. Agree they look like and act like juveniles. But I suspect they are finches of one type or another. Our Peterson guide is in the storage unit, darn-it.
Since all I ever see around my area concerning birds are crows, pigeons and sparrows, then I can definitely say with some authority that these are sparrows. As for any particular variety, I haven't a clue. The three birdies on the right look like they've already had their fill of safflower seeds, and are just hanging around, fully sated, digesting their repast.
