Description
Back to the Combat Air Museum (CAM) in Topeka, Kansas.
This colorful MiG-15 has a fascinating background.
Do ZOOM...big file for details.
All of us aviation fans know it well as the first operational Soviet jet fighter after WWII and the North Korean fighter that stood up to the USAF during the Korean War, 1950-1953. There were many epic air battles between MiG-15s and F-86s.
This Black Beauty was built in Poland in 1955. Shortly after "The Wall" came down in 1989, Poland offered its' MiG-15s for sale.
This MiG-15 was purchased by a flying lawyer in Lawrence, Kansas by the name of Steve Craig. He flew it to air shows throughout the 1990s and into the early 2000s. When the engine got to be "high time", he flew it to the CAM in Topeka, parked it and handed over the keys saying, Gents, it is all yours. What a great gift!!!
For anyone wanting all the specs, here's a link to this specific aircraft at the CAM.

Great shots. Couple of your camera angles would have been good 20mm angles back in the Korean era. Cheers,
Wow Bill...I'm enjoying your visit to this aviation museum...!!!!
impressive images once more Bill, I've been enjoying this series!
What an incredibly generous gift--I'm not necessarily a big plane fan, but this series shows how and why so many people are. These have been preserved and taken care of and are simply beautiful!!
Wonderful shots and information to go with them. Fascinating stuff.

I love that 1st one, it's beautiful! I don't know much about planes and jets so thank you for explaining.
So gorgeous!
Great collage again. Interesting story too.
the story is awesome!!
Great shot of potted history Photography has a important role in this way
Great shots and an amazing story.
Fine views of this classic Mig!
Stellar clarity and assortment of POVs in this collage of the Russian designed jet, looking all spick and span, Bill! Actually, the MiG-15 gave the earlier F-86s all they could handle over the skies of Korea. It had a better rate of climb, a tighter turning circle, and a much better ceiling than the early three-cannon Sabre. The first Mig-15 versus F-86 Sabre dogfight took place on December 17, 1950.
fantastic collage of a fabulous plane!!! Great story!
Fantastic work!!
Now that's a toy! Great story and collage to go with.
