Description
Chicago's tallest buildings, minus the Sears Tower, are seen in this photo of the area to my northeast [between my previous two photos to the North and to the East].
The two tallest buildings seen here are the Trump International Hotel and Tower (right) and the John Hancock Center (left). The Trump Hotel and Tower was just completed in 2009 and at 1,362 ft (415 m), is the second tallest in the city and in the Western hemisphere. By way of comparison, the Sears Tower is 1,451 ft (442 m) in height.
For those of you who know Donald Trump by reputation...can you believe he settled for building the second tallest building in the city?
If you would like to know more about Chicago's tall buildings, here is an excellent, illustrated listing: List of Tallest Buildings in Chicago
Hope you aren't getting tired of these scenes from the top...I've got another 3 or 4 worthy scenes.
Thanks for stopping by and all your continued support for sites from our grand tour:-)

Beautiful view of Chicago...my dad lived there for years and I used to love going to visit...excellent capture!
Anather beautiful view :)
Even more Jaw dropping!
Wonderful!!!
gorgeous vue!!!
Amazing sight! I can't help but think about all those folk trapped in horrid offices high up and alienated from their roots in the forest or on the plains.
What a great view and capture
A very impressive sight!! Great capture.
Cannot believe that Donald allowed himself to be trumped! Great view, Clive
You had a nice clear day for that trip. Excellent!
Awesome view, it's nice to see places that I haven't seen. Don't stop!
Excellent view & photo...
It is a gem of a city, and for those here that haven't been able to visit, you are doing an excellent job of fully portraying its beauty. Awesome view!
Fantastic shot and detail Bill!
The City of Big Shoulders.
fantastic skyline!!!!
Excellent!!
I love this tour of the city from your perch--it's probably the closest I'll ever get!!
another stellar capture, especially shooting through glass
Glad you took all these captures - enjoying looking at them.
I'm getting dizzy, another great shot Bill. Will these stitch into a panorama when all posted? that would be amazing. Do they still include roof masts in height calculations for buildings?, always seemed a bit of a cheat to me!.
I love them Bill, looking forward to the others. Great pics.
Fantastic view of the city.
fantastic view ...makes the other buildings look like lego toys
Awesome! The Chicago Chamber of Commerce must be drooling with envy over these fabulous shots of their fair city. The clarity and textures showing the individual windows, rooftops and buildings is beyond fantastic, Bill! And, Donald Trump also owns the golf course that featured the beautiful antique and classic automobile show that I posted pictures of from last September and months that followed.
The best view of all (I mean on the skylines) :)
I'm not bored yet ... bring on the rest of 'em! I like Neil's idea of a pano. Would that work?? That would be very cool.
Awesome shot Bill. This and the other are really cool pictures.
A classic! great panorama, how was the wind in Wind City?
