Description
Taking a break from the Memorial Day Ceremonies to bring you this bizarre collage, my initial venture into the arcane arena of the celebrated grunge effect.
Thanks to Sharilyn's expert tutelage, I found this exercise surprisingly easy to perform, although having done tons of postwork with Photoshop over the years also made it a simple task.
As for a proper photo, the first pic to come to mind was my legendary daisy shot, the one that I had previously used to a great extent for a world famous series depiction of bending, humiliation, swirling, torture, and twisting postwork effects. Couldn't have hurt much because they always came back for more. Old timers like TwoPynts, babuci, jocko500 and odie should remember it well.
I have oodles of textures at my disposal, so this subject matter offers an endless opportunity for grunge work. For comparison, I included the original at the bottom.
Anyway, I hope this qualifies for the title of grunge, especially the third photo. I anxiously await Sharilyn's thumbs up or thumbs down decision.
Tallyho.

I don't know what qualifies as grunge, having never looked into it, but I really like the first one of this grouping; and I remember those daisies too! Nice work!
I don't know what qualifies as "grunge" either, but I really like that third one! The colors are wonderful, and the composition created by your layers looks great!
Well, I'm in the same boat as the gals here! I just uploaded my first attempt at grunge today too and am still chewing on the idea whether I like it or not!! LOL... Lovely collage Harry! :)
These are excellent. Marvellous creativity. Well done!
Well I'm VERY old fashioned and prefer the original!
I like the third one, and I appreciate you showing all four. I think though the third is my favorite out of the grouping.
Dazzling Daisies!! The third one looks like fairy flowers, sweet and soft and gentle--great work here!!
Wonderful Collage!!!
Good plunge Harry...maybe you should take the band uniforms of the 300th Army Band as a texture too. Every grunge effort is probably going to be very different. I like #3 today.
I am overjoyed that you took this plunge Harry! WAY TO GO! .. and I have to say, you did fabulous. Not to go along with everyone else, but #3 is my favorite too. It's so DIFFERENT; and what is so fun with this, is, you can use a dozen textures if you want on one image, at varied opacities just to have it come out the way you like. I say you are truly off to a GOOD start with this. I hope to see more! :)
Nice to see that you have taken the plunge into grunge, Harry... very interesting array of textures and visual effects in this first attempt.
Keep going Harry, I think you did pretty well applying the textures.
Oh fun! Very nice collage~
Great job!!!
Dive right in, dude.... Not my cup of tea but great effort. Rob.
well I knew you knew photoshop, because you've coaxed some amazing clarity out of shots in dark & difficult places, and your light and clarity in difficult outside-shots also shows your honed sensibilities. But actually creating new works out of old ones isn't easy, and these are really very expressive. I'll have to go searching for the legendary job you did with daisies in the past, I'm dying to see it. But you did really fine work making them bleed (top), then sweeping them longitudinally (2), and yes, for me 3 is my favorite though I like them all. (3 is really a painting with photography; and you achieved an almost abstract out of it. You're gettin' into my territory here, lol, I'm feeling right at home!) Really good use of forms and hues, even some violet hues brushed throughout 3. Good blending Harry! And the original is a pure Harry flower shot, bold, beautiful, with your usual fine sense of light & shade, etc. Love this bunch. Well, I have to stop now, but I'll finish up this weekend. Work calls me, but as always it was great to be back here once more...tallyho!
It is amazing how different the same daisies can look, if given a bit of postwork. Great capture Harry, and fabulous 'grunge' :o) hugs Jane xx
