Description
I set out to photograph a water wheel, powered sawmill. The butterfly (posted Thursday) was in the driveway, the chipmunk (posted Friday) only a few steps away and a few more feet down the path I met "old blue eyes" (tonight’s posting). Zoom in to check out the scales.
WARNING: I just purchased, a new Cannon, whose photos top 10 mega pixels. This is great for detail but they have to be cropped down so much to be posted on RR, that you don't get to see, the full impact, of the size, of this fat water snake. A little more reading in the camera manual, and I can adjust the number of pixels, down to 2.5 mega pixels. Minor cropping gets it down to a postable size. Keep this feature in mind during your next camera search.

Super snake and what strange blue eyes. Ignore this if I'm preaching to the converted,my cannon 10D takes big files as I mostly shoot in RAW,I use a save for web in photoshop, but there are other progs including free ones to make reducing the file size down easy.
WOW, I'm sure I just his tongue flick out! Super shot. My camera is 10meg, if the picture is too big to upload I adjust the size on my pc, under 'format, resize image, resolution' you can adjust the amout of pixels per inch, I reduce it slightly until I get a file which is just under the 512KB limit for this site. I use Microsoft digital image pro but I would think any photo software would have that function somewhere, it's just finding it! Enjoy your new camera, have fun!

Your new camera will capture in a way you never imagined before. Buy yourself a photo editing program and resize your captures down to 33% or so. Best of Luck!

I agree with resize in post work do not reduce the resolution in the camera. You have a camera able to catch the detail; so enjoy it. Heart stopping moment I am sure.
I use Canons-2 15.1 megapixels and one 10 mega. I usually resize 30 % and it brings it in under 512mb and then resize by pixels to 200x200 and then export them if necessary to get under 15mb excellent snake shot. I agree do not reduce the pixels

Ah yes...we have a lot of those here in southern NH...ugh. Not a fan of snakes,but know they are important. This guy looks like he's getting ready to shed, seeing the 'lenses' over his eyes.... Where we camp in Center Ossipee, NH there are quite a few of these snakes on the shoreline of the lake....
