Description
Recall the little picture of my Indigo Bunting the other day? Here it is: Click Here
To make a long story short, this Indigo Bunting has come back each day for the last several days and yesterday even brought his mate with him. She is much more subdued in her coloring. I'll get a picture of her up soon.
Thanks for continuing supporting all my "birding" with your comments and favorites. It is all great for my motivation!
Bill, the Birdman of Leavenworth
P.S. Do you recall the 1962 B&W movie staring Burt Lancaster and Karl Malden, "The Birdman of Alcatraz"? The real character, Robert Stroud, was incarcerated here in Leavenworth before being sent to Alcatraz in California. So, he began his birding right here...with my birds' ancestors. LOL

I do remember him, what a great way to remind us!!
great photo!!!
Your skill with song bird captures is outstanding. This is one of those shots that really stars the photographer. :-)
Yes I remember that movie Bill. It inspired me to visit Alcatraz....3 times! True story! Actually, the island had little vegetation and was a seabird habitat when it was explored in 1775 by Lieutenant Juan Manuel de Ayala, who named it Isla de los Alcatraces ("Isle of the Pelicans")! It could have ended up being called "Blue Island" if only your little friend had have been holidaying there at the time!
Got it, Bill! That's the one...... Brilliant shot. 'Birdman of Leavenworth!!!? Great one! Like it..... Must get a nickname myself! Rob.
Wow! I'm jealous.... color me green! Great shot, Bill, of a bird I've never seen in person!
Your little bird has an exquisite colour. Beautiful photo.
wow, this is pretty; I can remember a few years ago, seeing one of these in my pine tree. I about went out of my mind with excitement; I had never seen one before. I think it's so cool yours comes back daily and now has brought his g/friend. :) Maybe soon, they will bring their babies there ... :) you can call that your Bunting feeder :D
Super, Bill. Congrats on making LWINTG.
The "birdman" scene I remember best was from "History of the World Part I." I don't THINK you're quite that crazy ... yet ... !!! :D
Outstanding work Bill a well deserved congratulations for being selected into LWitG 21, anyone of this series could have made it!
Beautiful shot....
Excellent Close-Up!
what a fascinating colors this one has, and you did an excellent shot, Bill
magnificient picture! I remember the first time we had one visit our yard. I thought I was seeing things because I didn't really think birds came in that wonderful color, LOL. My husband took pictures while I ran for the bird book. He only stayed that one day and came back for two years in a row...and then we havent' seen him since. But it was truly a wonderous sight.
