Description
Silver
Twenty five wonderful years
forged in spontaneity and hard work,
in joy, laughter, growth and love
of each other, our selves, and life itself -
two individuals forming a powerful unit,
with different characters and styles
interweaving but with latitude,
free but bound by attitude and values,
playful but deadly serious
about communication, commitment
and compassion for all living things.
Every day I marvel
at your intense passion
for everything you do,
your gorgeous looks and firm, fit frame,
your humour, your patience,
your humility and strength,
your profound grasp
of relationships and interrelationships,
your marvelous clarity of thought,
expressed so eloquently
in the beauty, power and emotion
of your words and actions.
You are the vital core outside myself,
my light, my love, my lover,
my analytical ear, my confidant,
my moral compass and equilibrium,
my lifeline in the storm -
but above all, my closest friend
and consummate companion.
And this is just the beginning...

My wife and I celebrated our silver wedding anniversary a few weeks ago. The day of the anniversary was during a particularly busy patch at work, and in the evening we ran a 5 km/3 mile time trial (she beat me, as usual) and bought take-outs for dinner. :o)) We don't get excited by "occasions" - every day together is special...

Wonderful words to your wife. Congrats on your Silver Anniversary!
Congratulations! That is one of the most beautiful love poems I've ever read. Heartfelt and excellent writing. How lucky you both are to have such a great relationship.
I read this jewel when I was formulating my fav artist blurb, and I realized, I never commented. It's just beautiful, Craig, and you couldn't have ended it more beautifully: The last stanza is an exquisite affirmation, and your comment—that everyday together is special—is wonderful. It says that when the connection is truly deep, the rituals we do on 'special days' are swept away by each day, and love becomes like breathing itself...A beautiful poem, filled with something affirmative for everyone, and beautiful that you posted this for the world to see. Wonderful. I wish you both many, many more years of deep connection together. (And your image is beautiful too, btw...)
