Description
I shot this photo 5-6 years ago, when I had a Sony Mavica with floppy disks. In order to get a decent place to see the procession one has to go there many hours in advance, stand on sore feet, bear hot, sweaty waether, squeezing crowds etc, and in the end shuffle back to the hotel with your backbone broken in at least fourteen points, elephant ankles, and aching bladder.
I can't imagine how it is in the most famous procession in Sevilla. Sometimes I wonder why I spend money to go through these ordeals, when there are prisons where they do it for free.
If you are made of a tough strain, however,I state and affirm that every aching muscle is worth while. The procession gives the onlookers deep emotions. To me, as an anthropologist, it gives a chance to witness a deeply felt display of popular faith that has disappeared in most Italy.

a mysterious & dark vision, and also beautiful...the soft focus & dark hues make the darkness of death (Good Friday) palpable, a procession to death & deep reclusion...And because you included the blur of robes & people in motion, you accentuated the dream-like intensity all the more. As you're an anthropologist (from your notes), you know better than I that these kinds of death-based rites are found across the globe (or 'still' are, before they're eradicated by the press of time), and so you've caught not only this particular rite, but the spirit of many others as well. Death lays like a pall over these proceedings, but the procession keeps going, and there is a sense of celebration that awaits liberation. A dark & beautiful capture, maybe it took time & effort but it produced a sensitive & fine result. A fine holiday to you and all you love. I'll be back here for more when I return home; you always post rich, complex & very humane work...

I' stunned to see this. I admire your painstaking work. Well said, but its disturbing at the end. here in India Christians icluding all denomination accounts only 2% of the population but they are strong in faith
