Description
A piece of driftwood at Watmough Bay. It was raining pretty hard, but that's okay ... sometimes stuff looks better when it's wet.
This is madrona, and the log is probably 15 to 18 inches across. (We do trees pretty well up here!)

I know you can't but I wish I could comb that beach, this piece would look superb sanded down and a coat of clear varnish on it. A wood carver would be in dreamland along this coastline. Superb work Tara, and wet as you say looks very good indeed. Bravo!!!!!
Wonderful and very creative work
Superb find and capture!
Great capture...
Wonderful shot, Tara! looks beautiful
Very well done. 5+.
I think wood is one of those things that does take on a special sheen when wet. Looks good. Once a piece of wood is on the beach, isn't it available for the taking...unless it is a private beach? Of course most people can't drag a full sized log away:)
OH Yes you are right about the wet. This looks wonderful indeed. Thanks for sharing.
what a fine piece of wood...and yes it shows it's colors and textures more when wet... you know hereeabout it's real trendy going out collecting driftwood for decorations and artwork.

All I can say is, all the above!
Wonderful deep honey color. Excelent close up.
Such rich tones; gorgeous wood, and a fantastic capture!
Excellent photo! The colour of the wood is stunning! The contrast with the litle stones is beautiful!
Lovely textures and colours in this beautiful capture.
nice...
Oh, wow...I have no idea why, but I just though of Frank Herbert's novel "Soul Catcher" which wasn't his best work, but it captured something similer to this shot. Good trees...great natural images, and yeah...rain. I love shots taken in rain, there's just something about them, especially when the results are like this! The color is stunning, vivid, alive...super stuff here! I like. I like it a lot.
Fantastic colors and details. Excellent shot, look beautiful!
