Description
This church stood along the highway that leads from Puerto Varas to Ensenada on Lago Llanquihue, Los Lagos District, Chile.
This region was settled by German colonists in the mid-19th century.
The countryside is dotted with neat fields, lush pastures, and occasional orchards. There were several German type restaurants along the way advertising 'Kuchen' (cake).
The hillsides were covered with mid-latitude rain forest. The climate in this part of Chile is similar to that of Washington State around Seattle and Puget Sound and Canada's Vancouver Island

A fine church; being in a community of German ancestry the colonial style is different from the usual Spanish colonial churches. Very interesting. The photo is a jewel as usual!

When I saw "Chile" on the key words I was surprised. This church looked very German to me. Now I know why! Another wonderful travel shot.

very nice composition, you caught the church flanked by the trees, which are remarkably vertical (paralleling the simple vertical steeple of the church), and you captured the cross surrounded by the darkest portion of clouds, as if the clouds were coming 'out' of the cross. The rest of it is simple blue sky and simple sloping grass. A very nice shot, very restful, and for all its simplicity it feels very exotic. A lovely church to come by, I'd imagine. I'd certainly want to capture it...
