WOW!!! Look at all those stamens. Stunning macro. Dana P
If life is like a bowl of cherries, why am I always in the pits? Good heavens, now that I look at this ethereal macro of a cherry blossom with those neat stamens, I'm reminded of a giant squid!
I thought squid too, I think it's the angle... :) Your macro lens is TONS better than mine, this is a great capture! Can't wait to see the fruit!
sweet capture have a great weekend warm hug, Linda
Thats an interesting pov and angle Marilyn .I thought it looked a bit liked squid :o) Mick
lol, squids...right on, it does look like a squid underwater...This is a mysterious & beautiful capture, deep & shadowed and drenched in peach-amber tones. And the on-its-side posture gives it the feel of an underwater creature. I've drawn cherry blossoms, and I didn't know the petals folded-back like that! (Cherry blossoms are a common 'category' in Oriental painting, because of their elegant simplicity. Whole chapters are written on how to capture them properly.) This is a whole new view of a common flower, and it has a lot of mystery too. Beautiful work, Marilyn. (Here's a typical Chinese painting of the blossoms: It's not a classic, but in the classic style. You'll see how they treat it like bursts of delicate light on thin "fingers" [ie, the branches]. That's very oriental. It's here. That's why I'm so intrigued by your photo, because it's so different than the c.blossoms I've drawn. Yours is so pulled-back and mysterious.)
