Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Roughness and depth feelings at the same time, exactly like the Monterey cigars ;D

I once took a road trip up HWY 1 from San Clemente. Ok, so I was really not paying attention to the time... Before I knew it I was far from home with Monterey in mind as a turn-around point. Didn't make it. I was turned back by the Highway Patrol because a 12 foot section of the road had fallen off into the ocean. I ended up spending a lovely night in Morro Bay instead. :-) I have made it from San Francisco to Westport, tho. It is a longer drive then driving up the valley but the view is worth it.

Always great to see new parts of your world!

Think these dunes were on Fort Ord real estate when I lived in Monterey years ago...but that's all changed...no more Fort Ord, so think these dunes are accessible once more. US troops practiced for D-Day amphibious operations on these beaches...prior to landings in Europe, the Phillipines and the Islands of the South Pacific.

A lovely capture of a lovely place, a serene oasis isolated from the mind numbing chaos of everyday life.

a nice sweep to the shot, and nice contrast between the sands and the background hills & water...you have the dunes meeting up with the hills in the far left, a nice 'coming together', nice packed visual music. I like the darker hue of it all too. (We have dunes in Indiana, and they're pretty big for a land bound state; but these are quite impressive, I must say.) the darker hue feels like winter, and also a little like the wild ocean it really is...nice moody feeling to it...

Beautiful tranquil scene Marilyn!

I could spend hours wandering the dunes! If only the tide would cooperate!
