Description
The Steller's Sea Eagle, Haliaeetus pelagicus is an enormous and majestic Eagle this is, on average, the heaviest eagle in the world, as it averages about 6.8 to 9 kg (15 to 20 lb)
Apart from it's huge yellow bill which is unique amongst sea eagles it bears some resemblance to the other two favourite fish eagles of mine to which it is thought to be related; the Bald and White tailed fish Eagle, this has been now seen in England for the first time, probably from the breeding pairs in Scotland.
One of the few times I feel I have gotten close enough to be able to capture it's beauty so best viewed as always full size.
Thanks as always for taking time to look and for any comments you care to make

My goodness, what an impressive and formidable beak! Beautiful portrait!
That beak looks extremely powerful, nice shot Dan. Am i right in thinking that the largest Eagle is a south American Species ? I remember seeing it on a BBC documentary about the Guyanan rain forrests last year, can't remember the name of the species.
